Meike and I moved into our new appartment 3 weeks ago and our parents came to visit. While I was at work on Wednesday Meike moved in and one of the first things her mother did was cleaning up the appartment, cleaning the windows and the bathrooms. Her dad came later and did some electrical fixing in the house. I moved in the day after and my parents came that evening - full house. The first thing my dad did was: hey daughter, do you already have internet"? The first thing my mother did was helping me putting up my IKEA stuff (something Meike's mom can't do.). As you can see - different parents.
It was really interesting to see how much we are alike with our parents.
So, we had our first little fight in our new appartment. But we managed well and left the house with a hug and "I love you".
A few months ago I read in the Ensign about a guy who thanked the former roommates of his newly wedded wife because she had learned so much already about living together with someone from the experience she had with them. Well, I truly understand why.
Meike and I are quite different but we do complement one another.
I am thankful for my roommate Meike. For her patience with me, for her understanding, laughing at my jokes, dancing like a shmaniac and for learning and growing together. And I am grateful for our little arguments and fights because they prepare me for my future husband. And I am also thankful that we have the same goal in always having a home where the Spirit can be present.
Cheers to us and our new home! (with non-alcohol champagne..)
